Distilling Seawater Desalination Titanium Tubes Standard Updating
Aug 20, 2018

On August 16, the State Oceanic Administration issued a notice on the preparation of the marine industry standard “Titanium and Titanium Alloy Heat Exchange Tubes for Distilled Seawater Desalination” by the National Marine Standardization Technical Committee Submarine Desalination and Comprehensive Utilization Subcommittee.

According to the "Notice", the production of titanium and titanium alloy heat exchange tubes for distillation seawater desalination in China has ushered in a large development period. Domestic and international demand is strong, but there are no relevant standards at home and abroad, but the reference standards are difficult to meet actual needs; Commonly used ASTM B338 "Seamless and welded titanium and titanium alloy tubes for condensers and heat exchangers", GB/T 3625 "Titanium and titanium alloy tubes for heat exchangers and condensers" and JIS H4631 "Titanium and titanium alloys for heat exchangers" Standards such as "Management" have problems with insufficient content applicability. According to the development trend of seawater desalination industry, it is necessary to formulate standards for titanium and titanium alloy heat exchange tubes for sea distillation desalination suitable for the current status of China's titanium industry.

The "Notice" stated that according to the requirements of the "Marine Standardization Management Measures", the above-mentioned standard consultation drafts are now open for public comment. Please send your comments and suggestions to the Secretariat of the Technical Committee on Desalination and Comprehensive Utilization, and indicate the words “Standard Name + Request for Comments” in the email. The deadline for comments is September 10, 2018.
